FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Avatari and Nyurlam propose Bhutans first all-electric Formula E circuit to power youth opportunity and a net-zero creative economy

Thimphu, Bhutan — 2 September 2025 — Avatari International LLP, through its Bhutan affiliate Nyurlam Ltd., today announced a proposal to develop a world-class, all-electric racing circuit and innovation village in Bhutan. The project is designed to inspire and retain Bhutans youth, catalyse high-skill green jobs, and help advance His Majestys vision for sustainable, future-ready development.

This is a youth-first, net-zero proposal,” said Jeremy Morrelli, Founder of Avatari International. “Nyurlam’s Formula E circuit is more than racing—it’s a platform for training, entrepreneurship, and creative industries that lets Bhutanese talent build exciting lives at home, aligned with Bhutan’s values and the King’s vision.”

We will deliver a 100% electric event and a year-round skills pipeline,” said Ashok Suppiah, CEO of Nyurlam Ltd. “From e-mobility and battery systems to broadcast, hospitality and digital content, Nyurlam will be a launchpad for Bhutan’s next generation—paid apprenticeships, certifications, and real careers built around clean technology.”

When technology serves wisdom, young people can discover purpose without leaving their homeland,” said Kalu Rinpoche, Founder of Nyurlam Ltd. “This initiative invites our youth to return, to learn, and to lead with discipline, joy, and compassion—uniting innovation with respect for Bhutan’s environment and culture.”

Whats proposed

  • All-Electric Circuit & Event: An FIA-compliant e-circuit designed for Formula-E-class events, subject to approvals, with zero on-site combustion and smart-grid integration.

  • Innovation & Skills Village: Training labs and maker spaces for EV maintenance, battery diagnostics, composite materials, AI/robotics, and live-event production, run with industry partners and local institutes.

  • Green Power & Infrastructure: A pathway to renewable-powered operations (grid + storage) and low-impact construction, with lifecycle reporting on emissions, water, and materials.

  • Tourism & Creative Economy: A multi-day festival that elevates sports tourism, music, film, esports, and culinary arts, creating thousands of seasonal and permanent jobs.

  • Inclusive Enterprise: Structured opportunities for Bhutanese SMEs, artisans, and youth-led startups across logistics, hospitality, media, and merchandise.

Trust and stewardship are paramount,” added Jeremy Morrelli. “We will embed open procurement, community benefit agreements, and human-rights due diligence from day one, so value flows to Bhutanese families and businesses.”

Our commitment is legacy, not just a race weekend,” added Ashok Suppiah. “The academy and incubator will run year-round, connecting local talent to global mentors and sponsors.”

Development approach

  1. Non-binding EOI & Feasibility — site studies, environmental and cultural safeguards, transport and grid planning, and community engagement.

  2. Design & Permitting — circuit, safety systems, paddock, pit and energy hubs; resilient mobility and guest-flow planning.

  3. Build & Test — low-emission construction, local workforce development, and operational readiness drills.

  4. Event & Legacy — race week plus a year-round academy and incubator, ensuring benefits extend far beyond a single weekend.

Benefits for Bhutan

  • Youth opportunity at scale: Paid apprenticeships and certifications in e-mobility, energy systems, media tech, hospitality, and event ops.

  • Net-zero leadership: A flagship zero-emission venue showcasing green power, circular materials, and advanced monitoring.

  • Local income & SMEs: Predictable contracting and micro-grants for Bhutanese businesses; transparent procurement and reporting.

  • Global visibility: A premium, values-aligned international event that amplifies Bhutan’s brand for sustainability and wellbeing.

Community & environmental stewardship

Nyurlam will adopt best-practice environmental and cultural safeguards, including early stakeholder consultations with youth, monastic bodies, local communities, and authorities; an ESIA aligned to international standards; a no-bribery, zero-tolerance anti-corruption policy and public grievance mechanism; and nature-positive design for drainage, noise, and habitat protection.

Call for partners

Nyurlam invites Bhutanese ministries and agencies, education and training institutes, private sponsors, and mission-aligned investors to co-develop the program. Expressions of Interest and stakeholder workshops will be scheduled following initial consultations.
